Birch Bark Woven Pieces

A curated look at baskets, containers, and wall hangings made from bark gathered only from fallen trees across southern Victoria.

34pc Pieces completed
Each piece begins with bark stripped from a fallen tree, then scored, soaked, and shaped while still pliable. The patterns are not decorative afterthoughts; they emerge from the structural logic of the weave itself, where every strip must lock the next into place. We document failures alongside successes because the discarded baskets teach more than the finished ones.

Birch bark weaving is learnable, but not effortless

We publish our techniques openly because craft knowledge kept secret dies with its keeper. If you are prepared to ruin your first three attempts, the fourth might surprise you. Our workshop notes and seasonal harvest guidance are available to anyone who asks.
